Mansfield gets ready for Earth Day

April 21, 2018 by

Mansfield Water Utilities and Keep Mansfield Beautiful will be presenting Earth Day Mansfield, which will be a free festival this weekend. Everything will be free, including parking.

The event will have a Children’s Area. Kids are invited to bring their fishing poles and enter the free Kids Fishing Derby. Those wishing to keep their fish must also bring their own coolers.

Artists around the area are painting rain barrels for the Rain Barrel Silent Auction, while local dancers and music artists are gearing up to give performances on the venue’s stage.

Local vendors will be hawking natural products and handing out business cards. Displays will consist of smart car information along with tin house plans, photos, and sites.

In the H2Grow area, adult education speakers will be giving short talks on different local environmental concerns such as “the seven steps to a Texas SmartScape yard” which will talk about water, fertilizers and reducing pesticide use. The Environmental manager and Director of Water Utilities will be on hand to answer any questions regarding local drinking water, such as how it is treated and delivered.

Beverages and food will be available for purchase at Earth Day Mansfield 2018, which is slated for April 28 at the Chris W. Burkett Service Center, 620 S. Wisteria St. from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. The Kids Fishing Derby will be from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm.
