Mansfield gets festival that’s right up its alley

Mansfield Commission for the Arts is bringing a new festival to town. The Music Alley Festival will be a free one-day event with music, art, activities and food.

The Musical Alley will have four stages. The Classic American Motown Alley will be on the Lot stage. A Mansfield Voice contest will start things off. Eagles tribute band, Desperado, will follow, and the Drifters will be the evening’s highlight. Hometown Alley will be on the Best Theater stage. It will be have the Jeh Horton Band, which will be followed by Jackson Christenberry. The final act will be Scott & Steve.

The Dance Alley stage will feature Lara Latin, Aurora Bleu and the Mack and Dyan Band. This area will also have a large dance floor with dance instructors. The Cinderblock Productions Alley Stage will have Friday’s Foolery, Mr. Carter Davis, Northern National and Mitchell Ferguson.

Art Alley will sponsor a live art exhibition with Jimmy Don Holmes as a special guest. A Music Alley Photography contest will be open to all Mansfield shutterbugs. The Music Alley Art flyers say that the contest will have four divisions – 18+ professional, 18+amateur, 13- 17 year olds and 5-12 years old. Hand-painted murals will be on festival streets and stages. There will also be a Kids’ Alley and a Food Alley.

The festival will be September 9th from 4:00 to 10:00 pm in Downtown Mansfield, 109 N. Main Street, Mansfield.
