Manassas readies for Earth Day festival

The 12th Annual Live Well Festival will be held the day before Earth Day, and historic Downtown Manassas will be teeming with activities.

In and around the Harris Pavilion there will be fitness classes, health screenings, entertainment and kid-friendly activities, including environmentally focused art projects. Everyone is invited to bring gently used bicycles, clothes and household items to donate to a worthy cause.

Local recycling and environmental exhibitors will be onsite with information on their services. Civic organizations and nonprofits from the area will also be distributing information.

The Prince William Street tower parking lot will have the Shredding Truck for anyone wishing to get rid of old paper materials. Cars will need to enter the parking lot from Prince William Street and leave on West Street.

New to the festivities this year will be a Live Well one-mile fun run and 5k and 10k races. The course will be flat and fast and will take runners from the Harris Pavilion on a loop course through historic Manassas on Center Street.

Another new addition will be the farm-to-table cooking demos. Presenters will be handing out business cards for future engagements.

The Earth Day festivities will begin at 8:00 am Saturday, April 21 in Downtown Manassas. The event will wind down around 2:00 pm. The races will begin with the 10K start at 8:00 am at the Harris Pavilion.
