Manassas gets aboard an annual spring festival

The 24th Annual Manassas Heritage Railway Festival will be chugging its way into town early in June.

Train enthusiasts will get an opportunity to view train memorabilia and buy train-themed items from specialty vendors. Under the Harris Pavilion, miniature trains will be steaming along train displays that are the pride and joy of local model train groups.

To take the experience on step further, guests can opt for a train excursion to Clifton and back. Tickets are available online or at the Train Depot.

Arts and crafters will be manning booths and selling their original artwork. Food vendors will be vending traditional festival fare and some will be passing out free samples of their specialty items. Merchants and businesses will be selling cash-and-carry items, passing out business cards, coupons and discussing their goods and services.

Nonprofits will also have booths and will be distributing information regarding their missions, programs and services. Train-themed attractions and rides will be available for the little ones. In fact, all vendor items will have some connection with the Railway.

The 24th Annual Heritage Railway Festival is scheduled for June 2 from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm in Historic Downtown Manassas around the train station. Trains will leave the station at 10:00 am and 11:00 am and again at 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm; tickets cost $5, and seating is limited.
