Gala celebrates group that has helped kids for 60 years

The Portland Promise Center’s 60th anniversary celebration gala is taking place next month in Louisville at the Frazier History Museum.

Guests will be able to take a tour of the museum, participate in live and silent auctions, and listen to a musical performance by some of the children helped by the Portland Promise Center. Guests will also enjoy a sit-down gourmet dinner.

There are many items up for auction and prizes include jewelry, hot air balloon rides, travel packages, and an American Girl Doll among other things.

The Portland Promise Center offers programs for children from kindergarten to age 5, ages 6 to 12, and families. These include afterschool programs like tutoring and homework help, a basketball league, camping, and a summer program.

For gala celebrations like this one, organizers often contact local postcard printing firms to provide them with printed invitations that can be mailed out to people in Louisville who have supported the Portland Promise Center in the past.

The anniversary celebration gala will be held at the Frazier History Museum on August 25 from 5:30 to 9:00 pm. Tickets are $65 until July 31 and $80 after, while tables for eight are available for $600.
