Longwood area event planned in support of troops

A care package can mean a lot to a soldier who is deployed or posted far from home, and Just Our Solder’s Helpers ( J.O.S.H.) has invited Longwood residents to participate in a fundraiser to help it in preparing some of these boxes.

The group has planned an evening of Bunco that will bring people together for fun in support of the troops. Admission to the function includes the games, as well as wine or soft drinks and a selection of appetizers, and anyone who would like beer or another beverage is welcome to bring along a bottle of their own.

Throughout the occasion, there will be an even-split draw and also a chance for the attendees to win a raffle prize. The proceeds from the event will be used by J.O.S.H. to purchase items for the care packages that will be sent to soldiers to let them know they are in the hearts and minds of the people back home. Personalized stationery can be used by members of a group like this to write a note that can be included in each care package to thank the recipient for their service.

Tickets are being sold on the basis of first come, first served, and there are spots for up to 72 players. The activity has been planned for February 10, and it will be held in the Lake Mary Community Center.
