New group hopes to connect women in London

Women in London have a new opportunity for connecting with others and for helping out in their local community.

Deanna Hermann, the executive director of the London-Laurel County Chamber of Commerce, has partnered with Levi Alley from PNC Bank to create “Ladies of Vision” – a networking group that focuses on providing volunteering and mentorship opportunities to women in Southeastern Kentucky.

So far, the group has grown slowly, but it has a number of events in the works for the fall. New groups can often take advantage of business card printing to help get the word out about their activities, and to reach other business owners in the area.

The next event scheduled for Ladies of Vision is a ‘Denim and Diamonds’ night, which is a meet and greet networking opportunity for current and new members. Denim and Diamonds will take place at The Abbey restaurant in the downtown area and will start at 6:30 pm.

After the networking event, Ladies of Vision has a service project planned for October 25. During the project, women who have had or who are currently receiving treatment for cancer will be given makeovers. These will be performed by local consultants with Mary Kay.

In addition to its upcoming special programs, the group holds monthly meetings, at 8:30 am, on the fourth Tuesday of the month. The monthly meetings are a chance for members to meet with and learn about new area businesses.
