Printmaking exhibition set to close at end of year

November 21, 2017 by

The Impressive Prints II exhibition is closing at the end of next month.

This is the last chance for the public to view the variety of prints created by artists from the Bluegrass Printmakers’ Cooperative. Some of the artists who are represented include Stephanie Barker, Matt Reno, Cathy Vigor, and Stephen Wiggins. There are all types of prints on display including monotypes, stratographs, and linocuts.

This group exhibition helps to publicize the work of the Cooperative, which includes offering classes and workshops to the general public. The organization’s aim is to showcase the printmaking process and to encourage people to try it themselves. Classes are suitable for beginners up to master printers. Topics include linocut relief printmaking and a Valentine’s printmaking workshop. The cost is $75 for a semester, which includes all classes and workshops.

No doubt this event has been attracting people who either are interested in learning about graphic design or who work for printing companies in the Lexington area. It will likely give them some ideas for their own work.

Impressive Prints II will be on display at the Lexington Public Library Eastside Branch Gallery Wall until December 29. The Eastside branch is open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 am and on Sunday from 1:00 pm. To learn more about this exhibition and the artists, call 859-425-2550.
