Lexington goes on a Hawaiian-style run

May 24, 2017 by

Runners in the Lexington area will be gearing up for the upcoming 5K Glo Fun Run and Chip Timed Run. The run will take participants through five luau-themed ‘Glozones’.

At registration, the Glo Run 5K Classic Fun Run runners will receive Super Glo Necklaces and admission to the Finish Line Party. Runners who opt for the chip timed run will get a flashlight, finisher’s medals, leis (Hawaiian wreaths), Super Glo necklaces, shirts, and passes to the Finish Line Party.

The runners will pass through five Glozones. The first will be the Giant Pineapples, in which giant glowing fruits can be used as background for anyone wanting to take selfies along the route. Next, the runners will be passing through the Black Lights Luau, and then on to the Luau Photo Op Glozone. Many runners will be taking their pictures from the Photo Op Glozone to their local printing companies for future poster printing. The fourth zone will be the Dancing Luau Giants, and the last one will be the Arches of Luau.

A costume contest and a 5K kids’ run/walk will complete the event. Proceeds will go to the Lexington Humane Society.

The fun will begin at 9:00 pm this Friday, May 26, at 4089 Iron Works Pkwy, Lexington. The costume contest will begin at 9:00 pm and the 5K (adults’ and kids’) will follow at 9:20 pm.
