The Fourth of July Festival is returning to Lexington next month for two days, courtesy of the Downtown Lexington Partnership.

The festival will kick off at noon with the Great American Pie Contest and an ice cream social at Cheapside Park. Later on, the Lexington Philharmonic will be performing patriotic music at Transylvania University beginning at 8:00 PM.

The next day is filled with activities that should appeal to the entire family. The Bluegrass 10K will take place at 7:00 AM on Main Street. Entry fees are $35 until June 15 and $40 after. Prizes will be awarded in the Fastest Five Competition, and there will also be a one-mile fun run with a fee of $15.

A street festival will begin at 9:00 AM on Main Street. It will feature lots of musical entertainment, food and drink, and local vendors.

The Fourth of July parade takes place at 2:00 PM and travels down Main Street to Midland and then to Mill. The day will finish off with a fireworks display at the Lexington Financial Center.

Lexington print shops often help advertise annual events like this by providing brochure and flyer printing services.

The Fourth of July Festival will take place at various venues from July 3 to 4. Admission is free of charge. Call 859-335-8640 for the most current information.
