Polar Express comes to Lewis Center area

November 26, 2016 by

Fans of the movie ‘The Polar Express’ can take a ride on their favorite train (sort of), and hear the story again, thanks to Cruz Candy in Powell, about seven miles from Lewis Center, which is holding its annual ‘Polar Express Event’.

Once there, each person will receive a special ticket, which will be punched by the conductor. Children will be given a train whistle and train hat, and then the entire family will be seated together on the ‘train’. This is not an actual moving train, but chairs arranged to resemble a passenger car on a train. Once everyone is seated, they will hear a reading of ‘The Polar Express’.

On the ‘train’, children will sing carols, ring bells, and munch on cookies. Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras and take photos of their children with Santa, who will get on the train at the Pole. The elves will help children paint train ornaments to take home.

Organizers encourage attendees to watch the film with their children a few days before the event, to refresh their memories of the story.

Families who would like to ‘ride’ should plan to be at Cruz Candy on December 7 at 5:30 p.m. Kids can even wear their PJs if they wish to do so, but it is not necessary.

Events like this can benefit when organizers work with postcard printing companies, which can create cards for mailing, announcing the date.
