Lewis Center site of run to fight hunger

Organizers of an upcoming race to be held in Lewis Center are managing the event because people in Central Ohio are going hungry. Their resentment at the situation has led them to set up the event, which is called ‘Running ‘Cause We’re Hangry’.

The ‘Hangry’ series of races works with local organizations that do not get the level of exposure given to larger charities and national organizations. Working at the local level allows organizers to directly see the impact the event is having on the community, according to spokesman Jonathan Flores.

The race takes place April 22, at Highbanks Metro Park in Lewis Center. Check in and registration will take place on the day of the race, from 7:30 until 8:30 am, with the race starting at 9:00 am. Prices for registration are $30 until March 3, $40 from April 1 through 15, and $45 from April 16 through the day of the race. Those who want a T-shirt from the event have to register by April 7.

The park is on Columbus Pike, and the race is a 5K, with all proceeds going to help food banks located in Columbus. This year, the proceeds are earmarked for Heart to Heart, a food pantry.

Events like these can benefit if organizers work with a banner printing company, which can create colorful, fun banners that add to the festivity of the day.
