Bike park opening date awaits

June 1, 2018 by

The Premier Health Atrium Medical Center Bike Park will be opening soon, and the celebration will be hosted by the City of Lebanon.

At the opening, visitors can enjoy giveaways, food, music, clinics, mountain bike demonstrations, and BMX exhibitions by professional riders.

The idea for the park came from members of the city’s Parks and Recreation Board. They wanted to develop a 45-acre parcel of land owned by the city, and create a bike park for off-road use. They developed an area that has a pump track, mountain bike trail, jump line, skills area, and Cyclo-cross course. The park, with its many different amenities, is the only one of its kind in the area, and provides challenges to bikers of all abilities and skill levels.

The state provided $200,000 in the form of state grants to help fund the park, and another $60,000 came from private donations. The park’s Premier sponsors are the Premier Health and Atrium Medical Center.

The Atrium Medical Center Foundation’s president, Michael Stautberg, said Atrium wants to improve the health of residents in the communities it serves, and encourages people to become more active. The bike park will help that effort.

The opening ceremony will take place from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm tomorrow, June 2. The new park is at 475 East Turtlecreek Union Road.

Events like this can be even more fun if officials work with a banner printing company to help decorate the park.
