May event celebrates opening of boating season

April 17, 2017 by

The annual Lakefest is returning to Laurel next month.

The event celebrates the opening of boating season and especially paddle boat rentals, and is presented by Laurel Parks and Recreation.

This is a family-friendly celebration that will feature plenty of activities that will appeal to people of all ages and interests.

There are set to be hay rides, a range of games to play, and plenty of food and drink for purchase. For the kids, there will be a moon bounce and balloons, along with dance performances from local groups and a DJ to provide musical entertainment.

In addition, the police will be on hand to demonstrate various programs that will likely include K-9. Various costumed fairy tale and cartoon characters will also be making special appearances.

This annual event offers a way to celebrate the coming summer months and let the community know about the public services that are available to them in Laurel. To ensure as many people know about it as possible, organizers may invest in flyers that can be quickly and inexpensively distributed in the community.

Lakefest will be held at Granville Gude Park and Lakehouse on Saturday, May 6 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Admission is free of charge. To learn more about this event, contact Laurel Parks and Recreation at 301-725-7800.
