Southern Nevada celebrates St. Patrick

February 28, 2017 by

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival is taking place in nearby Henderson next month for three days, presented by the Southern Nevada Sons and Daughters of Erin.

The festival offers three days of activities and entertainment suitable for the entire family. There will be a carnival, live entertainment, Irish whiskey tasting contests, and a bodhran (an Irish drum) demo.

Musical entertainment will be provided by such groups as the Angry Brians, Cockswain, and Holes and Hearts. Other entertainment will be provided by the Caroller Academy of Irish Dance and Scoil Rince Ni Riada Irish Dance.

The Saturday has two major events taking place: the parade will be held in downtown Henderson from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and this will be followed by a car show from 12:00 to 5:00 PM. A $20 entry fee applies for each car.

Vendors will be on hand to sell Irish-related items such as handmade jewelry and clothing. There will also be a St. Baldrick’s head shaving to raise money for cancer research.

No doubt families from the area, including Las Vegas, will take time to visit the festival. Word is often spread by flyers provided by local stationery printers.

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival will be held from March 10 to 12. Call 702-217-5707 for more information about planned activities.
