Upcoming festival celebrate state flower

The California Poppy Festival is taking place next month for two days, and is a presentation of the City of Lancaster Park Facilities.

The poppy is the state flower of California, and this festival celebrates its return to Antelope Valley for the spring and summer months.

The festival will have a wide variety of activities taking place that will appeal to people of all ages. Multiple stages are set to feature local musicians and performers, food and drink will be available for purchase, and there will be a Sunday car show. Several zones will be set up including the Healthy Living Pavilion, the Safety Zone, the Aerospace and Aviation Zone, and the Adventure Zone.

Visitors will have the opportunity to see many animals up close and personal, and experts will be hosting educational displays. There are also expected to be over 200 arts and crafts vendors on hand to sell handmade items such as jewelry, paintings, and clothing accessories. In addition, a farmers’ market is taking place.

Lancaster print companies are often asked to help advertise festivals such as this by providing flyers and posters.

The California Poppy Festival will be held at Sgt. Steve Owen Memorial Park from April 22 to 23. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children, seniors and active military. Call 661-723-6077 for the most up-to-date information.
