Janesville gets two festivals on one day

August 7, 2017 by

This month, a pair of festivals will be going on at the same time at the same location here in Janesville.

Janesville Noon Rotary will be hosting its 2017 Corn Roast and Mud Volleyball event, while the Rock Aqua Jays will be in the throes of a wake board and ski competition.

The corn roast will feature free sweetcorn along with other treats from RC Kettle Corn, Mac’s Pizza Shack, Kona Ice Experience, and Subway. A kids’ area will have games with prizes and bounce houses. Live music and dance performances will be on stage.

The Mud Volleyball tournament will be going on throughout the day, with the championship game being the event’s finale.

Across the park, Aqua Jays and the United States Hydrofoil Association will be in the middle of their US Wake Sport Festival. This festival will include a freestyle jump tournament and the 2017 USHA Nationals for hydrofoils. Riders will range from novice to professionals. Winners will have pictures taken for future poster printing. The newly renovated stadium now has a grandstand seating capacity of 2,800, with 1,500 non-grandstand seating.

Both events will be held in Traxler Park, 600 N. Main Street, Janesville. The Roast Corn and Mud Volleyball event will be August 19 from 8:00 am until the end of the Championship game. The Us Wake Sports Festival will run from August 15 through 19.
