Janesville focuses on art

This will be the 60th year for the upcoming Tallman Arts Festival, for which thousands of members from the community are expected to arrive to meet local artists and buy their creations.

The outdoor event will have over 100 artists and vendors selling everything from fine crafts and jewelry to fine art, sustainable works, and practical techniques such as needlework and woodworking. There will be live music provided by our local bands, plenty of food vendors, a silent auction, and activities for the children.

Some of the proceeds from the festival will go to support Art with Heart, which is a program that helps Rock County youth by selling works put together by artists 18 years old and younger here in Rock County. This year, the Art with Heart sales will be used to buy bus tokens for our county’s homeless elementary students. A portion of the proceeds from the festival will also go to Rock County Historical Society’s (RCHS) historical buildings and programs.

RCHS may be taking pictures of the various art works for later promotional poster printing and possible stationery printing.

The Tallman Arts Festival will be held Sunday, August 6 on the Rock County Historical Society Campus, 426 N. Jackson St., Janesville. It will run from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. Admission will be $5 at the door.
