Kids can color their way to Santa

November 7, 2017 by

For the holidays, Downtown Indy, Inc. is working with IBEW #481 once again to present the Circle of Lights.

The event is one of the most popular in the Midwest, when almost 5,000 LED lights, which are strung from the top to the bottom of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument in Indianapolis are lit. A highlight of the evening occurs when a lucky child gets to be with Santa on stage, and help “flip the switch” to light up the display. In order to be that person, the child has to win the Carson’s Coloring Contest.

The contest is open to any children who live in Indiana, and are between the ages of three and twelve. Coloring sheets can be found at the IBEW #481 office, or at Carson’s downtown.

The tricky part is getting them finished in time for the contest. Entries must be received before noon on November 13. Those who are mailing their entries should try to have them in the post by this Friday, November 10. Coloring sheets can be turned in at Carson’s Department Store in the Circle Centre Mall, or at IBEW #481 on Meridian Street, or they can be mailed to IBEW #481, 1828 N. Meridian Street, Suite 205, Indianapolis, IN 46202.

Organizers of contests like this could work with a postcard printing company to create mailing cards for residents, outlining the rules.
