Indiana State Fair on now

August 15, 2017 by

The Indiana State Fair, one of the most important events of the summer in Indiana, is on now at the fairgrounds in Indianapolis.

This year’s theme is ‘The Wonderful World of Food’, with a new theme each day so attendees will have a chance to try a number of different treats. One day the theme was popcorn, another it was apple, and on another it was funnel cake. Upcoming days include turkey leg, and anything on a stick.

Live music is a big part of the fair, with different bands scheduled daily. Some of the acts include major stars like Patti LaBelle and Kiefer Sutherland, along with tribute bands and a gospel music festival. Exhibitions are the traditional type found at fairs, such as livestock, farm machinery, and cooking demonstrations. Grandstand shows include monster trucks, harness racing, and a rodeo.

The fair opened August 4 and runs through this Sunday, August 20. The fair is open from 8:00 am until 11:00 pm Sunday through Thursday, from 8:00 am until midnight on Friday, and from 8:00 am until just after midnight on Saturday. The exhibit halls are open daily from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm. Admission at the gate is $12, and children under five get in free.

The fair is a classic family event, but knowing what is where, and when, can be difficult at events like this. Organizers can help by working with a flyer printing company on a handout of daily activities.
