In a recent press release, Atlanta-based DC BLOX announced plans for building an Edge data center near Redstone Arsenal.

The company is of the foremost suppliers of unified Edge data centers, as well as carrier class network services. In accordance with its existing platform for its Edge-connected data centers, network services (carrier grade), cloud, and colocation as well as cloud integration services will be offered by DC BLOX at the Huntsville facility.

The company anticipated that its new Edge data center will initially generate around a dozen high-salary tech jobs. The press release stated that data center will be able to convey 10MW of Huntsville Utilities’ power, as well as supply defense contractors, manufacturing, healthcare, education, and high-tech businesses with mission-critical infrastructure.

Lucia Cape of The Huntsville/Madison County Chamber noted that the newly announced project would help build infrastructure and attract companies to the area.

When Huntsville is wooing companies to locate here, DC BLOX’s contribution to the city’s infrastructure will likely be included in its presentation folders.

Stage one of the Huntsville facility will be operational in summer 2018. DC BLOX already has Edge data centers in Atlanta and Chattanooga and is continuing its expansion into the southeast, with plans for three additional centers in underserved markets that will be announced by the end of 2018.
