In the waning days of September, GLO Airline fulfilled its earlier announced intentions to offer flights between Huntsville and Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.

That first flight out of Huntsville International Airport bound for New Orleans was sold out prior to its September 30 departure. A day earlier, eight passengers arrived on the inaugural flight of GLO’s New Orleans to Huntsville route.

A regional carrier, GLO has been operational for three years and its Huntsville route will be the company’s sixth. GLO is targeting Huntington residents who wish to visit New Orleans for leisure as well as those who have business there that benefits from a face-to-face meeting.

The addition of GLO’s Huntington route is expected to create150 positions directly and indirectly here, and is anticipated to have a $1m economic impact on the city. As businesses expand in response to this influx of money, demand for a number of products and services such as business card printing also rises.

Initially, flights to the ‘Big Easy’ will only be scheduled on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Gate-to-gate, flight time will average 1 hour and 45 minutes. One way tickets will sell for $119, $159 and $199 depending on how far in advance seats are booked. Included in the price and three checked bags, snacks and beverages (non-alcoholic), and all taxes and fees.
