Huntington Beach restaurant planning special event

Huntington Beach’s Old World German Restaurant, in conjunction with the German School Campus, is hosting a special parade and lantern festival soon.

St. Martin’s Lantern Fest is a longstanding German tradition, and the German School Campus has been the site of the Lantern Parade for years. This time, it has teamed up with the restaurant to expand the event.

The restaurant is located in Old World Village, which opened in 1978. The village is the home of Orange County’s original Oktoberfest, which over the years has entertained hundreds of thousands of people. They have listened to authentic German ‘oompah’ bands, enjoyed dachshund races, and watched the ‘Chicken Dance’.

The restaurant specializes in German food such as sauerbraten, bratwurst, sauerkraut, potato pancakes, apple strudel, and schnitzel. The Euro Market, which is part of the restaurant, sells German products.

The Parade and Lantern Fest is scheduled for November 18, from 4:00 until 8:00 pm. Events are planned as follows: from 4:00 until 5:30 pm, raffle tickets will be sold, and registration is open; from 6:00 until 6:15 pm is story time; the Lantern Walk is from 6:15 until 7:00 pm; 7:00 until 8:00 pm will see hot food such as goulash and cider available; and the raffle will be held at 7:30 pm.

Events like this can be even more fun if organizers use colorful banners, which are sturdy enough to use outside, for decorations.
