The Chinese New Year Celebration is coming up in the nearby Woodlands.

This year’s festival will celebrate the Year of the Dog, with a variety of cultural performances, traditional costumes, family-friendly games, and hands-on art activities forming part of the festivities.

There is set to be live entertainment from groups such as the Houston Lion Kings, who will perform the Lion Dance and the Children’s Dance and Choir. There will also be a performance of the Umbrella Dance by the College Park Chinese NHS.

Families will have the opportunity to produce several art projects. Planned subjects include calligraphy, making paper lanterns, zodiac printmaking, and a coin project. There will also be games such a chopstick races in the museum’s atrium.

This event will likely attract visitors from all over the area, including some from nearby Humble who wish to teach their children about the diverse world they live in. In order to spread the word, organizers may invest in flyers that can be inexpensively and easily distributed in the area.

The Chinese New Year Celebration will be held at the Woodlands Children Museum on February 10 from 10:00AM to 2:00PM. Admission is $6 or free to children under the age of 1 year. To find out more about this event and other upcoming events at the museum, call 281-465-0955.
