Walk/run for cancer supports St. Jude Hospital childhood cancer efforts

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is hosting a 5K Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer later this month in Stamford. It is open to all residents of Connecticut, but it may be particularly appealing to those who live in nearby Greenwich.

This walk/run is being held in conjunction with Childhood Cancer Awareness Month being the month of September. It is designed to be a family-friendly event with face painting, a kids’ play area, free refreshments, music, and other activities.

The cost to register is $10 for children six years of age and older, and for adults. Those who decide to participate are encouraged to form teams and raise funds to support the mission of St. Jude. Those teams that raise $100 will receive an official T-shirt from the event. Larger donations entitle teams to additional gear from St. Jude.

Funds raised from this event support the treatments provided by St. Jude’s Hospital. In addition, families receive funding for travel, housing, and food so all their costs are covered.

The walk/run will be held on September 24 at Harbor Point in Stamford, beginning at 11:00 am, with registration beginning at 9:30 am.

St. Jude might consider turning to a local print company to print flyers and mailers that can be distributed throughout the state to encourage as many people as possible to participate.
