Humans and their canine friends enjoy social evening

Dog owners in Greenwich were invited to the first ‘Bark Bar’ at local pet store Raleigh & Co. Fine Pet Foods.

With the aim of introducing the pet community to each other and making new friends, human and canine, the evening was spent sipping champagne, wine and enjoying treats of both the human and doggy variety.

The idea is the initiative of store owners Betsy Kaminsky and Diane Galt. Intended to bring together the local canine community and become a focal point for regular social evenings, it is hoped the Bark Bar will become a permanent fixture in pet owners’ calendars. Kaminsky said:

“We want this to be a place where neighbors can meet each other and their dogs.”

Celebrating their first anniversary at the pet store, it had always been the intention of Betsy and Diane to have a regular social evening at the premises. Encouraging support and advice between dog lovers, and indeed any pet owners, the Bark Bar offers the opportunity to swap tips and knowledge with like-minded people in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Especially with the colder weather on its way, dog-lovers may like the idea of a warm retreat that welcomes their furry friends, as well as themselves.

The Bark Bar is held 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm on the first Thursday of the month, meaning the next one will be November 3.
