Greenwich features special summer music concerts

August 8, 2017 by

The Parks and Recreation Department of Greenwich is holding the final performances of its Jazz on the Sound concert program later this month.

For one of these concerts, musicians play on the dock of the Island Beach ferry, on Island Beach itself. The ferry departs the dock at 4:00 pm and returns at 6:00 pm.

People are encouraged to bring a swimsuit, a picnic dinner, and blankets and chairs for enjoying the concert on the island, as picnic tables, a sand beach, and other facilities are available.

The next Island Beach concert will be this Sunday, August 13.

Also, part of the Summer Concert Series are the Sunday night concerts at Binney Park, which are held from 7:00 until 8:30 pm. The last concert of the summer will be on Sunday, August 27 featuring the Sound Beach Community Band, playing marches and show tunes.

Finally, the Wednesday night concerts that are held in Roger Sherman Baldwin Park from 7:15 pm until 8:45 pm will also be winding down for the summer. The Short Bus, a band which plays pop rock, will be performing on August 16, and Beatles tribute Ticket to Ride will be performing on August 23.

Poster printing companies can be hired to create pieces that can be displayed throughout the town so that people are made aware of special concerts in their area.
