Lighting company invests in new Learning Solutions Center

A new Learning Solutions Center is by lighting company Hubbell Lighting. It will form part of the company’s headquarters in Greenville.

The renovation of the facility will include a new 46 seat classroom, light pillars to illustrate how Hubbell lights perform, and a ‘green’ wall showing how plants can grow under Hubbell lighting. There will also be a medical room, an outdoor room, and a retail room, each displaying differing lighting solutions.

The center promises to have plenty of extra room for a continuing program of education on state-of-the-art technology and visual light communication. The company has already supported over 1,000 classes and 80,000 hours of education credits since 2007, and it is hoped the new center will improve on this. The large floor space can also accommodate a wide range of the company’s promotional products and services.

Hubbell Lighting public relations director, Mike McCullough, said:

“This is very exciting for us, Greenville and the Upstate are at the center of lighting education. We are extremely proud to show people what we can do and at the same time have a positive economic impact on the community.”

Founded in the late 1800s by Harvey Hubbell, a few of the early Hubbell patents can still be found on display at the company’s headquarters. These include a plug with separate receptacle and a lamp socket with pull-chain.

The new center will be open January 11, 2017.
