Tribute to Judy Garland coming to Glenside

May 26, 2017 by

Judy Garland was a legendary performer whose movies and songs remain popular long after her death in 1969. Now her fans will be able to listen to her songs again, as Michael Richard Kelley presents his show, “Songs of Judy Garland” at Dino’s Backstage in Glenside.

Kelly has been singing professionally for more than 35 years, and is a co-owner of Dino’s Backstage, as well as its entertainment director. His colorful theatrical history includes a month-long stint at the Casino de Monte Carlo in 1985, where he performed for Monaco’s royal family. He discovered that cabaret theater was perfect for him in 1987, when he performed at Odette’s, located in New Hope, Pennsylvania. In 1995, Philadelphia Magazine’s “Best of Philly” issue gave Kelly the “Cabaret Act-1995” award, for his appearance at “The Club Above,” where he played for more than a year.

Dino’s Backstage is a restaurant and bar, and a cabaret theater. Although the establishment is new (it opened in 2016), it’s decorated in the style of a swanky 1940s supper club. Chandeliers, linen tablecloths, and photos of movie stars and theatrical personalities create a luxurious ambiance, and diners respond by dressing up to visit Dino’s.

“Songs of Judy Garland” begins at 8.30 pm on May 27, 2017, at Dino’s. Seating for dinner begins at 7 pm. Events like this can benefit when organizers work with brochure printers to create a beautiful program.
