Glenside to get Zappa’d

April 10, 2018 by

Glenside will get a taste of a rock legend when Dweezil Zappa comes to town for a concert appearance.

The son of legendary rocker Frank Zappa, Dweezil’s future seems to have been preordained from the moment his father listed “musician” on the boy’s birth certificate in the space to show religion. Whether Frank was serious or not, his son followed in his footsteps, but has successfully carved out a career that is very much his own.

While he was growing up, Dweezil listened to his father’s music, but also listened to other artists such as Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, and the Beatles. One of his greatest inspirations was Edward (“Eddie”) Van Halen, the founder and main songwriter of the rock group Van Halen.

When Dweezil recorded ‘My Mother is a Space Cadet’, his first single, it was released on his father’s label, but produced by Edward Van Halen. Van Halen taught the young man a great deal about music, an experience Dweezil says was inspirational.

Zappa appears at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside on April 21. The concert starts at 8:00 pm, and all ages are welcome, although young people under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Events like this can be exciting, and organizers can add to the fun by working with a poster printing company to create posters to advertise the evening. They might also be sold as mementos of the evening.
