Charlotte weaves her web in Glenside

Theatreworks USA, a not-for-profit, professional theater company, is bringing the show ‘Charlotte’s Web’ to the Keswick Theatre in Glenside soon.

The production, based on the children’s novel of the same name by E.B. White, tells the story of a spider named Charlotte and her friend Wilbur, a pig.

Wilbur is the runt of the litter, and is adopted by a little girl named Fern Arable when her father spares the piglet’s life. Later, Homer Zuckerman, Fern’s uncle, buys him for slaughter. Zuckerman puts Wilbur in his barn, where Charlotte befriends him. In order to save him, she weaves messages into her web praising Wilbur.

Theatreworks USA was founded in 1961 with the aim of bringing professional theater to families, young people, and in particular, underserved areas and disadvantaged youth. Since the company was founded, it has performed for over 90 million families and their children in both the United States and Canada. Theatreworks USA has a repertoire comprising 137 musicals and plays, and takes about 16 of them on tour every year.

Charlotte’s Web will be performed on Wednesday, March 21, once at 10:30 am and again at 12:30 pm. The run time of the show is approximately one hour.

Events like this provide an opportunity for organizers to work with a poster printing company to create posters advertising the production. They could also offer them for sale as many people enjoy such mementos.
