Glen Burnie prepares for craft showdown

A local SMA organization will be celebrating spring by hosting its first Smash SMA Spring Festival in a few weeks.

Local artists and craftspeople will be displaying and offering their creations for sale both inside and outside the lodge. Many will be handing out flyers and business cards to those passersby who may want to have some custom work done at a later date. Vendors will also be selling merchandise. A flea market will be outside and in full swing as well. Food vendors will be hawking their summer treats.

Children will have their own fun as they will be doing crafts and getting their faces painted. Local businesses have been donating items for the silent auction so there will be plenty of items up for bid. Participating vendors will be bringing items for the raffles.

The Fighting for Kaiden Foundation, which is presenting this festival, has donated over $10,000 for medical equipment and $42,500 for research in this its first year. It has raised $1,200 for specialty toys and has initiated meet and greet support groups. It has raised awareness of SMA by holding events such as this one, and set up social media accounts.

The fun will be this Saturday, May 20, from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm at the Glen Burnie Moose Lodge, 1911 Crane Hwy S. This event will be free and open to the public.
