Georgetown goes big for the fourth

Residents in Georgetown and the surrounding areas are getting excited for the Sertoma Club’s Annual Fourth of July Celebration. The all-day event features entertainment, crafts, food, parades, and – of course – fireworks in a quintessential Independence Day festival.

The festivities begin with over 80 booths spread out over the park selling crafts, giving out promotional products, leading arts and crafts projects for children, and also offering food for sale. The park will also be filled with bounce houses and a petting zoo for children as well as some games to play.

At midday, the gazebo will be filled with the sounds of music as some of the best bands from Georgetown and Central Texas perform for the rest of the day. A hometown parade is also being put together by the Leadership Georgetown Alumni that will run through the center of town and end at the gazebo.

In the late evening the fireworks show will begin. GWPyro is putting together this year’s display, and they are estimating that over 50,000 people will be able to see the bursts, flares, and rockets that they have prepared this year.

The Fourth of July Celebration will take place on July 4 from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. at San Gabriel Park, located at 1101 N. College St. Admission is free to the public. Anyone looking for more information should visit the website.
