The Community Foundation Run is taking place next month in Gastonia, raising funds for the Community Foundation of Gaston County, Inc.

There are two runs that people of all ages can participate in: a 5K and a 2K fun run. Fees for the 5K are $20 in advance until March 20 and $30 after, or $35 on the day of the run. The 2K costs $10, $15 from March 21, and $20 on the day. Prizes will be awarded to the best overall male and female finishers, as well as first and second male and female in each age category.

After the race, there will be a cornhole tournament, exhibits from local nonprofit organizations including the Animal League of Gaston County and the American Red Cross, and a Healthy Kids’ Zone. There will also be entertainment, games, and food available for purchase.

Participants can purchase a T-shirt, which will likely be provided by a Gastonia printing company.

The Community Foundation of Gaston County provides grants and connects donors with local charity organizations. This particular event has raised over $17m in its 14-year history.

The Community Foundation Run will be held at the Rotary Pavilion in Gastonia on April 8 from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. To learn more about the Foundation, or about the event, call 704-864-0927.
