New head of recreation appointed in Gastonia

Gastonia recently appointed Cam Carpenter as the director of the Parks and Recreation division. He is replacing Chuck Dellinger, who stepped down at the end of last month, after having worked in the division for 39 years.

Carpenter said that he is looking forward to his new position as it will enable him to further his career in Gaston County working on recreation ventures. Having been born and grown up in the city, he has been actively involved in its programs since the age of five.

He added that there are many development projects in progress, including a new playground at Rankin Lake Park and the Franklin Urban Sports and Entertainment District, as well as other renovation projects at recreation facilities in the area. He will also be working with other city officials in creating a new master plan for recreation that will be important to the future of the city.

Melody Braddy, Assistant City Manager, said that as Carpenter grew up in Gastonia and is familiar with the community, he an ideal fit for the position. He has a great deal of experience in writing grants, planning and project management, and collaboration, all of which will enable him to achieve highly in the position, Braddy believes.

Flyer printing is often used to create flyers to inform residents of such appointments and what can be expected under such new leadership.
