Gardena walks in winter wonderland

The city of Gardena is looking to kick off the holiday season in grand fashion with its Winter Wonderland and Tree Lighting Ceremony.

The event features a tree, activities, a movie, and a special guest guaranteed to bring seasonal festivity.

The tree will be brought to City Hall a few days before and decked with ornaments, tinsel, garland, and lights. When the time is right, the mayor and members of the city council will light the tree with the help of a very special visitor. Taking a break from his duties at the North Pole, Santa himself will be making an appearance, offering children the chance to sit in his lap and tell him their Christmas wishes.

The area by City Hall will also be turned into a winter wonderland, complete with snow and ice skating. A crafts area will be set up, giving families a chance to make their own holiday cards or ornaments. Food and hot chocolate will be served for those who are tired from playing in the snow. Additionally, a classic holiday movie will be shown, although which film this will be has not yet been announced.

The Gardena Winter Wonderland and Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held on November 29 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Admission is free to the public. Anyone interested in more information should contact the city directly.
