‘The Little Mermaid’ to make a splash in Frederick

January 4, 2017 by

The Way Off Broadway Children’s Theatre in Frederick will open its 2017 season with ‘The Little Mermaid’, rather than ‘Garfield: The Musical with Cattitude’ as previously scheduled, and the producers are delighted with the change.

Way Off Broadway’s CEO and executive producer, Bill Kiska, says the theater had been hoping to bring The Little Mermaid to Frederick for years, so when they had the chance to get the rights to perform the show, they leapt at it. Kiska says opening the season with a Disney production is a great way to start the year.

The show is adapted from both the film and the Broadway production, and offers audiences the chance to take a trip beneath the sea with the mermaid Ariel, who lives in a magical kingdom with her father, King Triton. Ariel wants to leave the sea and live on land with Prince Eric, but first she has to deal with Ursula, an evil sea witch, as well as convince Eric that she is the young woman he has heard singing.

The Little Mermaid runs from February 14 through April 8. Performances are given every Saturday afternoon, and the second and fourth Sundays of each month. Patrons are asked to arrive for lunch at 11.30 am, with the show starting at 12.30 pm. Tickets are now on sale.

Organizations like this can benefit by working with poster printing companies, which can create placards for every production.
