The holiday season returns to Frankfort

The village of Frankfort is getting ready for the holidays with two fun celebrations beginning early next month.

The first event that is planned is the Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 1 at Kansas and Oak, beginning at 6:30 pm. There will be a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, cookies, and hot chocolate to enjoy.

Next will be the Christkindl and Cookie Walk Weekend from December 3 to 4, which presented by the Frankfort Historic Business Association. The Cookie Walk will take place each day from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm. Those who buy a ticket for $15 will receive a bag, a wristband, and a map. They will then travel to over 20 shops in the downtown area, where they will receive an individually wrapped cookie.

There will also be lots of other activities over the weekend, including horse-drawn wagon rides, the lantern parade with St. Nicholas and the Home Depot Craft Station. Santa’s Secret Workshop is set to feature activities such as cookie decorating and writing letters to Santa. There will also be a $2 gift market for children.

No doubt the maps that Cookie Walk participants receive will be provided by a Frankfort print company.

The Christkindl and Cookie Walk Weekend events will take place in downtown Frankfort. For more information, contact the Village of Frankfort at 815-469-2177.
