Frankfort athletic director becomes hall of famer

The former athletic director of Reavis and Lincoln-Way East High Schools in Frankfort, David Brost, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Illinois Athletic Directors in May.

He was nominated for this distinction by Matthew Lyke, Athletic Director of Lincoln-Way Central High School, a rival in the district.

Brost graduated from Reavis High School in Burbank, Illinois and served as its athletic director from 1993 to 1999. He left the school in 1999 to serve as the athletic director of Lincoln-Way High School in Frankfort, then later served in the same role at Lincoln-Way East when the high school split into two campuses.

Brost said his induction into the Hall of Fame is not only about his contributions but also those of others, including maintenance people, coaches, the staff and administration, and members of the community, but particularly the students.

When Brost was athletic director, Lincoln-Way East won the softball championship in the state during the first year the school was opened, and was the highest ranking in softball in the state three years later. Many recognition programs were established by him for fans, athletes, and members of the staff and community.

Banner printing companies can be hired to create banners in the community so that people can become aware of such accomplishments, as these are often a reflection of the community as well.
