Bluegrass festival comes to Frankfort

July 4, 2017 by

Downtown Frankfort will be hosting the Frankfort Bluegrass Festival for the seventh consecutive year. Lovers of bluegrass music are expected to come from all around the United States.

The location will be on two stages at the historic Breidert Green—the Breidart Green Stage and the Prairie Park Stage.

Bands featured at this year’s festival include The Steeldrivers, who have been nominated for Grammy awards, and a favorite band based in Chicago, The Leadfoot Band.

Bands typically perform for a little over an hour at a time on each stage. Among the other bands performing on the first day are Head for The Hills, Fox Crossing String Band, Nathan Blake Lynn, and Coyote Riot. On the second day, additional bands performing will include Roland White Band, Hard Road Trio, The Grateful String Band, and Homestretch Ride.

In addition to the performances, there will be special activities for children, as well as workshops, a picker’s tent, and food offerings from vendors at the festival and local restaurants. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs.

The festival will be held this Saturday, July 8, beginning at 10:00 am and running until 10:00 pm. It will also run from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on Sunday.

Flyer printing companies can be hired to offer more details about the bands’ schedules, parking, and how to get to Frankfort from those coming from out of town.
