Fort Worth runners refresh with more than water

The Daiquiri Dash is a charitable 5K event that mixes fun with good works this weekend.

The point of this race is not necessarily to win or to improve a 5K time; instead, the Daiquiri dash was designed as a way for people to get together and have a good time while helping to support a worthwhile charity. The proceeds of this years’ event will go to the California-based nonprofit, For the Love of Cups. The organization funds early screening programs, research and much more.

The day will include music prior to the race start, a refreshing daiquiri at the finish line, and more music and fun following the race. Food vendors will be on site and everyone is welcome to stay, have a picnic, and enjoy some of the other beverages available.

Organizers encourage all runners to wear a unique outfit, costume, or any other type of fun gear for the race. All participants receive a T-shirt after registration as well as a stemless wine glass and a goody bag of promotional products from the race sponsors.

The trail conditions include a variety of surfaces, including rocks, grass and dirt. No outside alcohol is allowed and there are no refunds. The race will take place regardless of the weather.

The event will take place at Gateway Park, located at 751 Beach Street in Fort Worth, tomorrow, May 12. It begins at 2:00 pm and the race begins at 3:15 pm. Early bird tickets were available for $39.99 last week, but registration is now priced at $49.99, and can be completed online.
