Distance Runners in the Fort Worth area are getting fired up for the Jalapeno Half. The half marathon event also features a 5k and 10k run with awards, challenges, and more.

This will be the fifth year that Fort Worth has held the Jalapeno Half, and it is already considered one of the premiere distance runs in the city. The course follows a nice level path with few turns or hills and will present a nice run for novice and expert alike. This is the first year the 5k and 10k have been offered. All races are chip timed and awards will be given out to the top male and female finisher overall as well as the top three males and females in each age group. Only the overall winners of the half marathon will be announced, however.

The races also present the opportunity for runners to take part in one of three statewide running challenges. The half marathon is included among a list of three Texas summer halfs that are part of the World’s Toughest Half challenge. Additionally, the 10k is part of the Sizzling 10k Challenge and the 5k is part of the Run & Party 5k Challenge. All participants also get a medal and custom t-shirt featuring the logo design of the Jalapeno Half on them.

The Jalapeno Half will be held on June 25 starting at 7:30 a.m. at the Panther Island Pavilion, located at 395 Purcey St. Registration varies by the length of the run. Anyone looking for more information should visit the website.
