Half Marathon in Florence to benefit Honor Flights

This month’s 2017 Honor Run Half Marathon, sponsored by St. Elizabeth Healthcare, will feature four runs taking place in Florence, the proceeds of which will benefit Honor Flight Tri-State and Habitat for Humanity.

The executive director for the Half Marathon, Scott Spicher, chose Florence for the run’s location and autumn as the time to hold it, so as to show off Northern Kentucky’s southern landscape. Veterans Day weekend was selected to honor area veterans, and this year the run takes place on Sunday, November 12.

The Half Marathon and 2-Person Relay start at 7:00 am, and the 5K takes off at 7:30 am. At 10:45 am, the last race of the day – the Kids’ One Mile – begins. Each run begins and ends beneath the Florence Y’All tower located at the Florence Mall.

Honor Flight Tri-State provides a free trip to Washington, D.C. for World War II veterans, as well as those of the Korean and Vietnam military engagements, so they can see their memorials. Some of the money from the run will go to the Cincinnati chapter of Habitat of Humanity to repairs the homes of local veterans.

In the four years that the half marathon has taken place, almost $100,000 has been raised, and with the effective use of marketing services, the next four years will likely prove even more successful.
