The month of December is a busy one for adults over the age of 50, thanks to the Center for Active Adults, located in the Costick Center in Farmington Hills.

Today, from 10:00 am until noon, Farmington and Farmington Hills residents can shred as many as four bags of documents free of charge. All they need do is drive into the parking lot at the Costick Center, where the shredder will be located. When people are finished, they can attend a lecture on how to age in place, planned for 10:30 until 11:30 am.

On December 8, from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm, people are invited to a Holiday Extravaganza featuring a meal, dancing, entertainment, and prizes. Attendees are asked to dress up in their holiday finery; tickets are $10 at the door or $8 in advance.

A ‘Dine and Discover – Up the Lazy River’ brunch is planned for December 13, from 10:00 am until 11:45 am, featuring an imaginary trip on the Tashmoo, a historic steamer. Experts will discuss the lighthouses on the Detroit River. Only advance tickets are available at $8 each.

The last event on the schedule is the film ‘This Beautiful Fantastic’, which will be shown from noon until 3 pm, with lunch available. Tickets are $7 at the door and $5 in advance.

When events like this are planned, managers of organizations can work with a flyer printing company to create a schedule for attendees.
