Upcoming fair to help local job-hunters

February 13, 2017 by

The Construction Trade Union Information and Networking Fair is taking place next month. It is presented by the City of Evanston.

This is an opportunity for residents of the city to learn about apprenticeships and educational programs, how to reinstate their union memberships, and information about Construction Industry Service Corporation (CISCO) classes.

Attendees will have the chance to talk one-on-one with union representatives. They are also encouraged to bring their resumes since many companies looking for new employees will be on hand, and interviews might take place there and then. There are expected to be representatives from unions representing trades such as electrical, glaziers, drywall, pipefitters, cement masons, carpenters, and plumbers.

This event is most aimed at helping those who have just graduated from high school and are still deciding on a career, those looking into changing jobs, and those who are hoping to get back into the workforce after a period of unemployment.

Many of those who are hosting booths at the fair may invest in sign or banner printing services from Evanston printing companies to identify themselves. Organizers may also purchase flyers from one of those companies to advertise.

The Construction Trade Union Information and Networking Fair will take place at the Levy Senior Center on March 9 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Admission is free of charge. For more information, call 847-448-4311.
