Fun festival returning to El Cajon

May 9, 2018 by

For the fifth year, El Cajon is holding its community festival known as ‘America on Main Street!’ The theme of the event his year is ‘A Salute to Heroes’ – a perfect subject since the event takes place on Armed Forces Day.

The festival celebrates the many different historical and ethnic groups that make up El Cajon. The entire event, including parking, admission, ride, and live music, is free. There will be more than 150 booths for attendees to enjoy, along with a naturalization ceremony, at which between 75 and 100 people will become U.S. Citizens, and a flyover by the U.S. Coast Guard.

Both the fire and police departments will have emergency vehicles on display, and live entertainment will take place on three stages, with more than thirty acts performing. Street performers will also add to the fun, and festival-goers can sample ethnic foods from booths located throughout the area.

Carnival rides will provide more fun, as will a petting zoo featuring a llama. The event closes with a laser light show.

The fun starts at 2:00 pm and runs until 9:00 pm on May 19. The location is East Main Street, between Avocado Avenue/Ballantyne Street and Magnolia Avenue, and some streets will be blocked off. The naturalization ceremony is set for 1:30 pm, and the flyover will take place at 2:00 pm.

Organizers of events like this could work with a banner printing company to create colorful flags to make the day even more fun.
