Four-star Courtyard to open this month

The Courtyard by Marriott San Diego El Cajon, the city’s first-ever four-star hotel, is getting ready to open.

At the moment, staff members are making finishing touches to the property. Once the fire marshal gives the green light, the hotel will open, according to director of sales Rachel Lynch.

Bill Wells, El Cajon’s mayor, says the city has been advocating for a hotel of this quality for a long time. He believes the facility will be good for the entire city, since it could encourage businesses to hold meetings at the Marriott, which will translate into more business for restaurants and attractions in the area.

The Marriott is at Rea and Magnolia, which puts it next door to the police department, and across a parking lot from the East County Performing Arts Center. The center, which has been closed since 2010, is now being renovated and will reopen soon.

The hotel offers 120 guest rooms as well as a full-service bar, a market open 24 hours a day, a bistro, a courtyard, and a heated pool and spa. It also includes a fitness center, dining areas outdoors, and a business center, along with meeting space totaling 4,900 square feet.

The hotel anticipates an opening date of Thursday, February 22. Managers of facilities like this could work with a brochure printing company to create a booklet that shows the amenities available.
