Upcoming East Northport area event will be for the birds

Children are often curious about the creatures that share their world, and an upcoming East Northport event will give them a chance to learn more about their fine feathered friends.

The program, which will take place at Wild Birds Unlimited, will teach those who take part all about birds. They will learn what makes them different from many other animals, and also what similarities they share. They will discuss feathers, coloration, flight, and the differences between males and females of the same species.

After the learning portion of the day has drawn to a close, the participants will have a chance to make a springtime-themed bird craft that they can take home with them. Space is limited to just 15 seats, so registration is required, and unregistered siblings will not be permitted to participate. It is geared for those who are age five or older. A booklet printing company can supply those who plan a function such as this with handouts and other materials that can be given to each boy or girl who attends.

The Spring is for the Birds program has been planned for May 13 at Wild Birds Unlimited in Syosset, and it will begin at 12:00 noon. Anyone who would like their son or daughter to take part has been asked to contact 631-903-5556 to register or for additional details.
