East Northport kids about to get a lot more active

A running program planned just for kids, which will both keep the participants active while teaching them ways they can have a fun and healthy lifestyle, is being organized in East Northport.

Pulaski Road School will serve as the location for this fall’s Healthy Kids Running Series, and it is open to all children from prekindergarten all the way up to 8th grade.

Each week, the group will participate in an assortment of running events, including 50- and 75-yard dashes and runs of a quarter mile, half mile, and full mile. While it is competitive, it remains a friendly competition, and each boy or girl will be encouraged and supported to do their very best.

The children who take part will be competing to receive points, and the top winners will be awarded a special trophy at the end of the series. All of the runners will be given a medal in recognition of their effort and willingness to keep with the program, and they will also be given a gift bag filled with ‘swag’ supplied courtesy of local merchants and other supporters of the initiative. Graphic design can be used to create T-shirts and other custom apparel that can be given to participants in this type of event.

The start date and location for the fall Healthy Kids Running Series will be September 17 at Pulaski Road School. Its website contains additional details, as well as a chance to preregister.
