Louisville in for a colorful summer

The 2014 Color Run, dubbed as ‘The Happiest 5K on the Planet’, will take place in Louisville in June. The event is hosted across the country during different times of the year and is a fun family-friendly event.

The Color Run is a 5K in which participants run through various points along the way and are doused with different colors from head to toe. Each participant is required to wear a white shirt. The race is not timed but is unique in that it celebrates happiness and good health.

At the conclusion of the race, everyone will be invited to the Finish Festival. The party will include music, major color throws, and dancing. To date, the event organizers have raised and donated over $1,000,000 to charities.

Founded in 2012, the event brings communities together across the country and is the single largest series in the USA, tripling its growth in a year to more than 170 events. The runners vary in their backgrounds, demographics, and reasons for participating. There are no official times or winners, so the event welcomes first time runners as well as experienced athletes. Some runners are celebrating their own healthy accomplishments or those of family members or friends, while other people have their reasons and goals for participating in the fun.

Marathons and outdoor races generally have banners along the way to direct the runners. A print company can handle the banner printing to any specifics, including type of material, color combination, and style.

The Color Run is scheduled for June 8, 2014. Event details can be found on the website.
